Bruce Hicks Jr. : Bruce started the program to provide an intense focus on "FUNDAMENTALS", and to emphasize the lessons of integrity, work ethic, teamwork, leadership and self knowledge that can be taught through basketball. He loves the kids and understands all the dynamics that go into building a strong program. Bruce has coached at various camps for the past several years, including Philadelphia 76ers Camp, Kenny Smith Carolina Basketball Camp, New York Knicks Basketball Camp, New Jersey Nets Clinics, Five-Star Camp, Pocono’s Invitational Camp and the Basketball City Youth Development League. He has helped players develop the fundamentals of basketball and increase their basketball knowledge. Prior to coaching, Coach Hicks played professionally for the Harlem/Tampa Bay Strong Dogs and Jersey Skycats. He played college basketball at New Jersey City University, where he won the Division Three ECAC Championship in 1994.
Bruce is currently the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Kean University. He previously was the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Raritan Valley Community College for 2 years as well as the Men's Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Raritan Valley Community College for 5 years. He helped coach the Men's team in 2009 to become the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Champions. In 2009-2010, Coach Hicks helped bring in the best recruiting class at Raritan Valley Community College, which happened to be the best recruiting class in the history of the Men's Basketball program. That 2009-2010 team placed 7 players at Division I, Division II, and Division III programs. He also helped produce One All-American player at Division III (Drew University 10-11).
Brian Honis :
Coach Honis joined Pure Basketball™(AAU) coaching staff in 2013. Played as a two year starter at Teaneck High School, averaging 15 PPG as a Junior and 17 PPG as a Senior. I was named All-League for both years and an All-County selection as a Senior. I was recruited by two Division I programs; Manhattan College, NY and Wagner College, NY. I was also offered two scholarships by Division II schools; Caldwell College, NJ and Franklin Pierce College, NH.
Despite my offers, I made the decision to attend Rutgers University of Newark, NJ which allowed me to play right away. I was a four year starter graduating with my Bachelors Degree. Being selected numerous times as Rookie of The Week and went on to become Runner-Up for Rookie of The Year. Selected to the All-Conference two years and named an Honorable mention East Coast All-American my second year. Finishing my college career with over 1000 points.
After Rutgers, I was fortunate enough to play for five years with the Harlem Wizards. Playing competitively overseas in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
Being the proud father of four boys, Coaching is not only a fun teaching opportunity for me, but it is also my passion. I have been coaching CYO, Travel, and AAU basketball since 2008. I joined the Pure Basketball Organization in 2011. I enjoy working with the youth and helping them to reach their full potential both on and off the court. My objective is to ensure that they learn the fundamental building blocks of the game of Basketball while growing and progressing from game to game.
Kenneth Barnes :
Ken joined the Pure Basketball program in 2016. Ken has over 15 years of basketball coaching and training experience at all levels ranging from youth to high school age kids.
Ken played high school basketball in Limestone, Maine. In 1990, He attended prep school at Maine Central Institute and played for Coach Max Good. His team had an undefeated season going 24-0 and won the New England Prep School Championship. He receive a Division 1 scholarship to play basketball at the University of Maine. During his freshman year, he won the American East Rookie of the week honors twice and was selected to 1990-91 American East All Rookie team. He was the Team Captain for 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. His senior year he was selected to All Conference Second team.
Ken graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He’s currently a New Business Strategist Manager for the Taft Hartley and Federal Business Sales Segment at Cigna Healthcare.
Ken is married to Stacy Barnes and has two sons, Branden and Niko.
Reggie Williams Jr. : Reggie Williams Jr., joined the Pure Basketball™(AAU) coaching staff in 2010. He had an immediate impact with his 12U team. Prior to joining Pure Basketball™ he was coaching with House of Hoops with their 13U team. Reggie played basketball at Bloomfield Tech High School in Bloomfield, NJ. He continues to play ball in most of the Semi-Pro Summer Leagues in New Jersey area.
